Ex lamps
Revised range sets safety standard standard.
New range of battery and rechargeable battery lamps, headlamps and helmet lamps for Ex areas
These lights are designed to minimise the risk of an explosion caused by the presence of a flammable mixture and sparks, thus ensuring a high level of safety.
What is meant by explosion protection?
Explosion protection aims to minimize the risk of explosions in hazardous environments by controlling or eliminating potential sources of ignition. This is achieved through special equipment and installations that prevent flammable gas or dust mixtures from catching fire. For areas with a high explosion risk, such as chemical plants or mines, such measures are essential to ensure the safety of people and equipment.
Explosion protection gas
Zone 0 - Highest hazard
Area in which explosive gas mixtures occur continuously, for long periods or frequently.
Zone 1 - Medium hazard
Area in which explosive gas mixtures occur occasionally during normal operation.
Zone 2 - Lowest hazard
Area in which explosive gas mixtures do not normally occur or occur only briefly.
Explosion protection dust
Zone 20 - Highest hazard
Area in which explosive dust-air mixtures occur continuously, for long periods or frequently.
Zone 21 - Medium hazard
Area in which explosive dust-air mixtures occur occasionally during normal operation.
Zone 22 - Lowest hazard
Area in which explosive dust-air mixtures do not normally occur or occur only briefly.
Areas of application
Ex lamps are required in various areas of application to ensure safety in potentially explosive environments. Here are some important areas of application:
- Chemical plants and refineries
- Oil and gas industry (drilling rigs, pipelines, tank farms)
- Mines and pits
- Paint shops and spray booths
- Food and animal feed industry
- Pharmaceutical production facilities
- Ammunition and explosives depots
- Grain and animal feed storage facilities
- Water and waste water treatment plants
- Textile industry (especially areas with a dust explosion hazard)
These areas require special explosion-proof lamps to minimise the risk of explosions caused by sparks or hot surfaces.
