System-tested emergency lighting for self-rescue measures 

An optimum lighting system which enables the passengers to leave the tunnel safely within 30, 60 or 90 minutes must be provided for the evacuation of people in an emergency (e.g. fire in the tunnel). Suitable safety lighting for this new-built connecting tunnel had to be planned and implemented on the basis of the standards and the rules and regulations of SBB as well as the fire protection specifications. In this particular case, the handrails were mounted both directly on the wall and on supports (free-standing).
